Here's the 2011 Fall Foliage Schedule, lifted from the KTO website.
"The Korea Meteorological Administration recently announced that the autumnal tint will be making its appearance 1-6 days later than it has in previous years. Leaves on Jirisan Mountain and the central regions of Korea are expected to start changing between October 3rd and 19th, while the southern regions will start experiencing the seasonal bursts of color between October 13th and 30th.
The first foliage* of Seoraksan Mountain is predicted to start around October 3rd, and will reach its peak** around October 18th. The peak time of fall foliage on Naejangsan Mountain will be around the 7th of November. Last but not least, the autumnal tint will peak in the central regions and Jirisan Mountain around middle to late October, and in the southern regions around late October to early November.

hi!im therese from the philippines.we are going to seoul on oct 19-23.we are visiting nami island on oct 20,is it possible for us to see leaves changing colors?also we are exploring seoul tourist spots on oct 22 like gyeongbokgung palace and N tower, same inquiry---is it possible for us to see red trees along the area?thanks and we really appreciate your effort on taking time to reply on our queries.take care!
Hello Therese!
If the weather forecasters are correct, you should have a great time taking snapshots of maple leaves during your holiday.
Nami Island is halfway between Seoul and Seoraksan and the latter is expected to see the peak of the autumn colours around the 20th October. I've not been to Nami but I suspect it has more metasequoia trees than maples so expect more browns than reds.
Seoul should also be displaying colourful autumnal tints by the 22nd of Oct so your timing should be spot -on. Just pray for good weather and no unexpected showers.
Don't forget to charge your camera battery!
Wishing you a great holiday!

Hi Ajumma, this is Eric from Indonesia. Will be in Seoul n going to visit Nami also Seoraksan around Oct 27 - Nov 2. Will this be to late to see the autumn color?
Apa khabar, Eric,
May be too late to see the leaves in Nami and Seoraksan around late October. Try Naejangsan National Park - the leaves should be more colourful at the time you plan to be in Korea.
Check out this link also ( for Seoul, refer to Bukhansan - the park that's closest to the capital city).

I will be in seoul on nov 13 for a 4 day trip. What places do you recommend to visit and what clothes to wear during this season. It's my first time in Seoul and I am very excited.
Hi to the lucky Anon who will be in Seoul in mid November,
Am happy for you!
First, do pack warm clothes. There's a cold snap already so low temperatures may be expected. Layer, layer, layer and make sure you've got something to cover the hands, head and neck ( Just in case).
Recommended places in Seoul?
1. Yeouido Park and the Hangang
2. Bukhansan and / or Bugaksan
3. Namsan & the Hanok Village
4. Namdemun Market
5. Gyeongbokgung and other palaces
6. National Museum
7. Cheongyecheon
8. Insadong
9. The sauna or jjimjilbang
10. Suwon (near Seoul) for the Korean Folk Village and Hwaseong Fortress
Happy travelling!
